Year Two - 1996
On February 3rd, 1996, we celebrated the first anniversary of IRED. The number of entries in the Directory had reached almost 5,000. Processes to measure the number of hits, the number of visits to the site, and other statistics were being put in place. New approaches had to be taken to handle the growth.

In March of 1996, both "INMAN NEWS FEATURES" and IRED were growing rapidly, but in different directions. It was decided to end the joint venture so that both parties could truly achieve their individual goals.

On April 6, 1996, "The Internet Real Estate Directory" moved to a new server, One.Net in Cincinnati, Ohio, under the registered domain, ired.com.

In order to quickly establish name recognition for the new site, the logo chosen was IRED.COM.

Joann continued as Webmaster for IRED, and took over the non-US section of the Directory, which by then had 150 entries, mostly Canadian.

In April, 1996, a privately held, US corporation was formed, IRED.Com, Inc., with three principles, Becky Swann (CEO/President) -Joann Chokrach (Vice-President) - and Jim Swann - (Treasurer).

A marketing director was added to the staff and Jim Swann stopped taking outside contracts for AS/400 programming to join IRED as the Office Administrator.

Joann was still working full-time as a systems-analyst/programmer, and full-time on IRED. In addition to reviewing the international sites, she began developing the content areas of IRED. Becky continued to put in 15 hours a day working on the U.S. Directory.

In May of 1996, the European mirror, http://www.ired-europe.com/, was established in the U.K., hosted by NetEstate.

In August of 1996, Debbie Shaddox, joined the staff as "Reviews Editor" to help Becky with the U.S. site reviews.

In the fall, a second mirror site was added, this time in Asia, hosted by FAM InterActive Sdn Bhd in Malaysia.

By the end of the year, featured columnists and editorials were a standard part of the IRED format. The site was now logging more than 2 million hits per month, and more than 38,000 home page views.
