IRED.COM - The HistoryYear Three - 1997 In March, 1997, Joann quit her consulting job to begin working full-time on IRED. She continued to develop site content areas, and by July, 1997, IRED contained more than 500 pages of reference material, articles, and editorials. It was time to change the name and logo again ... this time to "The International Real Estate Digest." In response to reader requests, new columnists, forums, and separate tracks for consumers and professionals were added. Relocation and market information was added to the international (non-US) section of the directory. By year-end, the number of countries listed in the directories had risen to 92.
As the number of "good" sites continued to grow, the decision was made to remove all links to "billboard" sites. Exclusive commercial sites were transferred to PikeNet.
By the end of 1997, IRED had amassed 56 awards, and was the only real estate site to be nominated for the prestigious WEB MAGAZINE, 1998 WEBBY AWARD.
