EMPEX 2005 Conference: Emerging Markets

© 2005, IRED.Com, Inc., Simeon Mitropolitski

On September 14-16, 2005, the capital of Poland Warsaw will be hosting the Emerging Markets Property Exhibition EMPEX, organized by CEE Warsaw International Exhibition Ltd., part of Expomedia Group Plc. The conference will cover issues related to 14 different nations with population of some 370 million. Most of the countries are former communist nations from Eastern Europe and the former USSR. The real estate market development in Turkey will also be discussed during the conference.

The program will include three thematic sections that will deal with the investors' issues, with the development of the residential markets and also with the emerging new European cities. During the last section mayors, city officials, urban planners, architects and developers will share information about the newest urban trends and will raise the investment attractiveness of their countries and regions.

The issue of the new European cities is linked to the more general issue of the cities in emerging market economies. As the organizers of the conference point out, 19 of 23 mega cities with population of more than 10 million by 2015 will be located in emerging markets. What the fate will be of these urban centers depends largely on the measures that may be taken in the meantime by the decision-makers around the world. The conference will discuss how to revitalize some city areas, how to find new financial sources for urban development and what will be the architectural trends during the years to come.

The topics that will be discussed during EMPEX 2005 deal mainly with but are not limited to the general development in Eastern Europe in the last 10 years. They also include the residential real estate market developments in the emerging market economies; the legal and economic situation in Central, Eastern and Southeastern Europe as well as in Russia. Among the speakers there are many representatives of local and international real estate companies, from several urban centers, and from financial institutions. Some Polish dignitaries like the director of the Polish National Bank Leszek Balcerowicz have already agreed to be honorary patrons and partners of the conference.
