EPIC will discuss the Italian Real Estate MarketOn September 29-30, 2005, the Italian capital Rome will be hosting the 7th edition of EPIC, the European Property Italian Conference. This year the conference will be focused on the evolution of the Italian Real Estate Market in the last seven years. More specifically the event will draw parallels between the real estate market in this European country and the international financial system. The conference is organized by Risorse per Roma and is sponsored by the city of Rome municipality, by the Italian government and by the European Commission. The speakers will represent the real estate industry, Italian and international, as well as some financial and academic institutions. Among the issues that will be discussed in September 2005 will be the returns on investment in property over the last 7 years; which sectors, locations and investment styles have produced the best results; what have been the financial benefits to the collectivity; how does Italy fit into the larger European financial context; what forecasts can be drawn from the current numbers, to mention just a few issues. The 1st EPIC conference was organized in 1999 with the main goal of creating a forum for discussions that would introduce the Italian Real Estate market to the major international companies and would facilitate the contacts between them and their Italian counterparts. The 2nd edition in 2000 focused on both the evolution of the Italian and the global real estate market, and on the ways of integrating the later into the larger global picture. These first two conferences focused mainly on the potential of the Italian market as well as on the need for change. The 3rd conference in 2001 was dedicated on studying some important deals that have been closed during that year in Italy. The conference had provided the opportunity to study ways in which projects could be better financed, planned and managed. The 4th EPIC conference in 2002 had somehow shifted the focus from the real estate market as a trade system to its production dimensions. In order to secure a long-term sustainable development the market agents should care not only on the quality of their trade services but also on producing new goods and services. The 5th EPIC conference in 2003 has paid particular attention to the analysis and interpretation of change in the economy and in society, and the development of appropriate long-term strategies. The seminars on marketing and financial issues have been focused on forecasting the demands of the consumers and discussing financial instruments available on the Italian market. The 6th edition of the conference in 2004 had as its main issue the identification of the technical skills and management resources required for success in key areas of the property business. There were special days dedicated on discussing the human capital and how it affects the real estate performances and also the opportunities that the Italian market represents for skilful and ambitious professionals.
