Quite often a service on the Internet comes along that provides highly useful, even potentially life-saving information. These good folks have a mission (in their own words) to: "Provide notification to citizens of local, regional, national and international emergencies utilizing the Internet and electronic mail (email) in a secure and expedient manner".

To get this free service started, you do a quick one time custom setup choosing from a variety of areas of concern such as utility outages, severe weather, changes in daily weather and other menu categories. Then these folks will notify by E-mail, pager or cell phone (whatever manner you select).

Neat free service that could provide critical and timely information!

With one click to this handy spot you will get an instant reading showing the on-line speed at which you are really operating at any given moment. In addition to the speed measurement, this site provides you with lots of additional information regarding your connection, including a gauge that helps you compare your current connectivity performance with all the various methods of connecting to the web

This handy site allows you to upload up to a 75 MB file, or several files totaling that size. You then send the folks you want to receive the file a pre-prepared message (allowing for your customization). When your intended recipients receive your message, they simply click a link in the message and the file downloads to them.
