If you have any interest in researching any part of the world (including the United States) you can access all of the current information the Unites States Central Intelligence Agency (CIA) has gathered (except, of course, classified data) at this powerful site.

Every country in the world (along with every ocean and body of water) is covered here and includes the Economy, People, Geography, Military, Transportation, People and Communications. This resource contains all sorts of neat cross-referencing tools and is a quick and obviously authoritative resource.
